Because it’s not, at all. All it takes is a smile and a hello.

I have made many, many friends. I may not have kept all of them, I may not care much for some of them, but I have many.

It’s really not hard to relate to people. Every one has secrets, bad days, good days, vices… We’re all connected by one big stream of bullshit.

All it really takes is realizing that and realizing that a smile works wonders. It may not fix anything, or make anyone feel much better, but if you can smile then you can make a friend.

I know that there are people who will read this that know me and they’ll think “You’re full of shit. This crap comes easily to you.”

It didn’t always. I never had friends. Ever. I was so fucking alone, so lonely all the god damn time. I had NO ONE.

It took me YEARS to realize that all I had to do was make the first move.

Eye contact, smile, greet, converse.

It saddens me deeply to watch people struggle with trying to connect with others.

I try to encourage others, the people that I know who do have trouble with it, to just.. open up to the possibility that not every one is as stand-offish as they seem. Make the first move. More often than not, you don’t have to tell them a damned thing about yourself.

Just… smile a little more.
